More Loving Remembrances...

Lovingly submitted by Marcia Harvey Elovich:

Uncle Howard was the next oldest living son after my Dad.  Dad loved him very much.  They had lost their older brother Kenny while quite young but the remaining brothers ran in a pack. Some were more rascally than others but together they tried to outdo the next and may each have succumbed to Double Dog Dares. The Harvey boys had two sisters, one of whom died in childhood of cardiac problems and Aunt Jerri who is best remembered by my father as having the ability to run and kick at the same time.  They shared a father who was pretty strict with them and a mother who laughed at their antics.  They all grew up to love farming, if only in backyard gardening.  Farming is in Harvey blood.

Uncle Howard had one attribute that was very like my father's.  When he spoke to someone, he generally expressed his interest in them by asking how they were doing and then listening.  That small kindness drew many to him as friends.  I always saw Howard as a bit tamer than his brothers, though he spent energy learning good jokes to tell at family table  and then to banter and fun with his siblings.  I remember Howard asking the blessing over our family meal.  Always having worked very hard, he often fell asleep mid-sentence.  We'd wait patiently for him to gather thoughts for verbalizing in our behalf, but finally the snoring would start. That was his own little way of celebrating a party.  All these parties and much more will be remembered of uncle Howard.  God bless him.
